Abt’s analysis of the role of the private sector in Benin’s immunization services reveals that 8 percent of vaccinations are provided through the private sector. Given the importance of the sector’s contribution, the study recommends that the government:
- Work more closely with the private sector to ensure adequate training and quality of services.
- Investigate whether user fees being charged by certain providers are a disincentive to vaccination.
