The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation launched 100&Change, a competition that grants $100 million to a single project that will help solve a critical problem. Applicants propose both the problem and the solution in a topic area of their own choosing.
Abt conducted a mixed methods process evaluation of the competition, with a combination of primary data collection activities and analysis of extant data.
The first $100 million grant was awarded to the Sesame Workshop and the International Rescue Committee for early childhood education of Syrian refugees.
This process evaluation helps identify what worked well and should be preserved for future rounds of the competition, and what could be improved in future rounds of the competition.
