Abt Global conducted an analysis of IQ loss in children under the age of 2 due to lead and arsenic consumption. The data was derived from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, the Food and Drug Administration’s Total Diet Study and U.S. Department of Agriculture’s What We Eat in America database. Results are broken down by food, age, data source and contaminant. Among the findings: arsenic seems to account for a significantly larger share of total IQ loss.
