Most U.S. adults – especially low-income Americans and people who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits – fail to meet U.S. Dietary Guidelines for fruit and vegetable intake. The United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service contracted with Abt Global to evaluate the Healthy Incentives Pilot in Hampden County, Mass, which provided a financial incentive to certain SNAP beneficiaries for purchasing fruits and vegetables.
