The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education funded the Advancing Innovation in Adult Education project to identify and disseminate innovative practices in adult education (AE) programs that help adult learners obtain a secondary credential, earn occupational credentials, and obtain employment. This project, conducted by Manhattan Strategy Group and Abt Global, assessed three rounds of program applications to identify and highlight innovative practices. Three compendia of innovative practices were released during 2020 and 2021. This is the third report in the series.
The nine AE programs described in this third compendium have formed strong partnerships to support adults as they access and enroll in adult education, attain their educational goals, and prepare for next steps in their education and their entry to the workforce. The compendium describes practices that enable adults to participate in integrated education and training, or transition to postsecondary education or training. Also highlighted are practices for increasing access to adult education for adults with justice involvement, or who are deaf or hard of hearing.
