Bio

Julie Sabol started her career in advertising and product placement for Macy's. After a few years in the commercial market, she began her 26-year career in designing social marketing campaigns, public health education materials, and consumer advocacy programs for the federal government.  A hallmark of her expertise, Ms. Sabol brings a blend of strategic thinking, evidence-based insights, and target audience positioning to develop robust multimedia campaigns and digital products.

For nearly two decades, she has supported various agencies within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in developing communications plans, partnership strategies, and print and digital products to support community outreach, stakeholder engagement, branding, and promotional activities. For over 15 years, she has worked with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to guide its program outreach to at-risk youth about topics such as underage drinking and suicide prevention. Her work with SAMHSA extended to cross-agency collaboration and the White House for its Mental Health in My Community Guidebooks and various Surgeon General’s Reports covering a variety of chronic health issues. For the past 10 years, she has directed creative for several programs within the Health Resources and Services Administration including its Ryan White HIV/AIDs program and Stopbullying.gov initiative.

Recently, her work has largely been focused on supporting CDC’s COVID-19 research programs, MIS-C educational materials for health providers and parents, PFAS and PEASE study recruitment, and flu and vaccine studies for pregnant women. In 2017, she led creative direction on the CDC Zika Prevention Communications Campaign in which Abt earned a MarCom Platinum Award for outstanding traditional and social media in the areas of quality, creativity, and resourcefulness.
